Blog

I have wanted to start this blog for a long time. It feels like opening a door that has been patiently waiting.

Here, I would love to share my creative journey — the hardships, the small victories, the moments of doubt, and the moments of joy. The path of creating is not always easy, but it is deeply meaningful.

My hope is that within these words and experiences, you may find something that resonates with you — perhaps a piece of encouragement, a sense of companionship, or something that enriches your own creative path.

Nothing Was Wasted: The Journey to Becoming a Surface Pattern Designer

Graduated from University College London with Biochemical Engineering Masters degree

In the year 2000, I arrived in the UK as a newly married woman with an acceptance letter from University College London to study Biochemical Engineering. I remember the mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Before anything could begin, I needed to pass my IELTS exam.

It was not easy.
Yet something in me adapted quickly. After taking an English course, I passed the exam and began my Master’s degree. A year later, I completed my thesis with distinction.

At that time, success looked very clear. Study hard. Achieve well. Move forward.

Life, however, had its own rhythm.

I can hardly believe that it’s almost a year and a half since I took part in my very first market. What began as a small, brave step has now grown into something bigger — hoping for some lovely sales and even lovelier conversations. This journey has surprised me in many ways, and I’m grateful for every moment it has added to my creative life.

I usually attend markets in my little town on the Wirral — a peaceful corner next to Liverpool, surrounded by nature and coastline. The furthest I’ve gone so far was about 25 miles away. They offered me a free stall because they were launching a new market and wanted to support those of us who didn’t sell well in a previous one.
